With near record high temperatures expected for southern California I decided to hit the beaches and do a little people watching and take in some sun. I have to say that my visit was not letdown at all, lots of beautiful people, sand and surf and of course lots of people wearing Hawaiian apparel.
I then decided to have a breakfast burrito at a little place in Pacific Beach on the boardwalk, delicious. So one would think that this was a near perfect day, which it was right on up to when I went back to my car. I left the beach a little early so I would have time to run up to Wave Shoppe Hawaiian Shirts for some new Hawaiian threads, only to find my car blocked in by someone else’s car. Well I sat there for over 20 minutes before some old guy walked over and got in his car, I decided to give him a break and not say anything (cause he was old) but boy was I starting to get mad.
So I get to the Wave Shoppe Escondido store and what do you know, there is a big fat lady in a lifted 4X4 parked on the sidewalk, yes on the sidewalk, blocking the entrance to the parking lot. So I parked on the street and walked over to see why this person driving the big truck was acting so dysfunctional. I noticed a red handicapped placard in her window (red means temporary) and commenced to ask her if she realizes she was parked on a sidewalk? To my amazement she said parked there so her friend could walk over to the farmers market and then said the unspeakable which was “I am handicapped, give me a break!” OMG that gives you the right to park wherever your vehicle comes to a stop I say?
Well she then rolled up her window and while on most days I would have pursued this further, I decided that after such a nice day I wasn’t going to let some obese gal in pickup truck spoil my trip to aloha land in my quest for a new Hawaiian shirt, I ended up buying 3 new Hawaiian shirts and headed home.
